Vidi ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Vidi handles your information when you use our iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS applications.

Data Collection and Storage

Vidi does not collect or store any personally identifiable information. Your media files, file names, folder names, and connection details are never transmitted to our servers.

Information Stored Locally

The following information is stored securely on your device using iOS Keychain:

• SMB Server Credentials: Server addresses, usernames, passwords, and domain information for your network connections
• Connection Settings: Saved connection names, share paths, Face ID preferences, and auto-connect settings
• App State: Your current folder location and scroll positions for state restoration

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud on your device, Vidi uses iCloud Key-Value Store to sync your saved connections across all your devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This includes:

• Connection configurations: Server addresses, connection names, share paths, and preferences
• Credentials: Usernames, passwords, and domain information (encrypted by Apple)

This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is encrypted by Apple. We do not have access to this data. You can disable iCloud sync by turning off iCloud for Vidi in your device settings.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To help us improve Vidi, we collect anonymous usage analytics. This data helps us understand how the app is used and identify areas for improvement.

What we collect:

• App events (e.g., video played, folder opened) without any content or file information
• App version and iOS version
• Platform type (iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV)
• A randomly generated device identifier (not linked to your Apple ID or any personal information)

What we do NOT collect:

• File names, folder names, or any content information
• Server addresses, usernames, or passwords
• Your location or IP address
• Any personally identifiable information

Voluntary Feedback

If you choose to submit feedback through the app, we collect your message along with your anonymous device ID, app version, and platform. This helps us respond to feedback trends and improve the app. Feedback submission is entirely voluntary.

Data Security

All sensitive information (passwords and credentials) is stored in the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted and protected by iOS. Face ID authentication adds an additional layer of security for accessing your saved connections.

Network Communication

Vidi communicates directly with your SMB servers. No data is transmitted through third-party servers or cloud services (except iCloud for connection syncing, which is handled by Apple). All media streaming happens directly between your device and your configured SMB servers.

Third-Party Services

Vidi does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app communicates with:

• SMB servers you explicitly configure
• Apple iCloud (optional) for syncing your connection settings across devices
• Our analytics server (api.vidi.club) for anonymous usage statistics and feedback submission

Permissions

Vidi requests the following iOS permissions:

• Face ID / Touch ID: Used to authenticate access to protected connections (optional, per-connection)
• Network Access: Required to connect to your SMB servers
• Local Storage: Used to cache media thumbnails and store app preferences

Data Deletion

You can delete all stored data at any time by:

• Deleting individual connections through the app's swipe-to-delete feature
• Uninstalling the app, which removes all data from your device

Children's Privacy

Vidi does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for general audiences and does not collect personal information from any users.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
